Projet de la N-É3R students are exploring our province of Nova Scotia in Social Studies.
La carte de relief de la N-ÉLiving and working in NS survey In Social Studies, we are looking at how Nova Scotians earn
their living and how their jobs impact (or have no impact) where they live. We discussed how some people can work from anywhere and do not have to live in the town in which they work (or even the province or country at that) and what makes this possible- technology, variety of travel options etc. We discussed daily services that require you to live in the town/city in which you work such as hospitals, fire stations and police stations and touched on how some services are no longer essential daily services such as the door-to-door postal service and why. We talked about family-run businesses where Nova-Scotians live close to their family to share in running a family company. We discussed how a fisherman/woman or farmer wouldn't likely live in Bedford as the logistics of doing their job require them to be on the job in the early hours and handy to their boat/ farm. The students have developed interview questions for someone who lives in Nova Scotia to help us gather information from Nova Scotians on living and working in NS. |
